The parents are geno typically heterozygous in all genes.  They all express the dominant trait, while their offspring is homozygous recessive. Homozygous dominant, and heterozygous, with some expressing the dominant traits, others the recessive traits. If the genes are unlinked, so that the traits are independent, you'd have 2^4 = 16 different combinations when experimenting with 4 genes. Thats why P1 is alike and all F1 is different. Those are the reasons.

Blog 11

I don't believe that we should be able to pick genetics because everybody can end up looking the same.  Everybody to should look different so they can be recognize.  If we could pick genetic traits we will not tell who is who. If we kept the world as if it is now it would be better because everybody has a different look and personality.  It can be dangerous to pick genetics also because if they pick the wrong traits something can go wrong.View Image

Fermenated recipe

Fermented pickles instead of vinegar pickles because not only do we love the way they taste, we love the health benefits of eating fermented foods. It's one of our favorite fermented foods recipes.

or this fermented foods pickle recipe, you will need:
  • 2-one gallon crocks or glass jars
  • 4 lbs. of cucumbers
  • 3⁄4 cup kosher salt
  • 1 bunch dill weed
  • 1 head of garlic, peeled
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • pinch of black peppercorns (optional)
  • 10 grape leaves
  • 1 gallon boiling water
The process of fermentation not only helps to preserve food, it breaks food nutrients down into more digestible forms, improves the bioavailability of minerals, and creates new nutrients including B vitamins (folic acid, riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, and biotin). Fermented foods are also live foods, full of beneficial bacteria.

How far should the government go in isolating people with an infectios diseases? Should the army be involved?

How far should the government go in isolating people with an infectios diseases? Should the army be involved?
I think the Government should go as far as they can in isolating people with infectious diseases.  It can spread and kill lots of people if they run out to other cities or towns.  They need to kill all those people or else more people will die and spread around the whole world.  Humanity will be extinct if they are not isolated.  I think the army should be involved in controlling people and watching for people that try to escape.  They should just bomb the town and get rid of that disease once and for all.

Procedures and protections for biocontainment

The first step of bio containment facility is that you should always be aware that you are near danger , diseases and stuff.  You should wear gloves and goggles so you wont get affected with diseases and danger.  You should listen to your teacher and not what other people say.  Always follow procedures like rules from the leader.  Do not mess around because its not safe since your near all this danger.

Glacier found to be deeply cracked

http://www.sciencenews.org/view/generic/id/63847/title/Glacier_found_to_be_deeply_cracked

Water pressure below the glacier and stress from the massive weight above probably produces the cracks in the glaciers which can lead to global warming.  The scientists go out there and drill holes on the glaciers to see how much it would drain. Some of the glaciers which are about 80 meters deep allows glacier to absorb, sponge-style, a sudden inrush of water from melting or rain. Another reason why glaciers are cracked is because of the hot air from global warming. More and more of the glaciers are being melted or cracked because of this. There are many glaciers cracked and this one is just 1 of 1 million.access

Are non carbon based life forms possible?

It is inevitable. Water and carbon lifeforms like us will eventually
construct surrogates adapted to live in vacuum and in cold
and these cold-vacuum-capable beings will be able to reproduce somehow
and that will be life. Without water nothing will be alive.

Metric system in the U.S.

I think the U.S should stick with the metric system and other countries should also. If the U.S changes it, we will have a hard time learning it because we've been using it for quite a while.  Other countries shouldn't change in to our metric system and stick with what they got.  So the world wont be so mixed up in measurements.  This will make it easier to understand.
